As from Monday 7 April we are moving from Canonbie Church to the URC Hall, Station Road Annan. we have been very happy at Canonbie Church and they have been very good to us over the years. 2024 Rally a Huge Success
01st July 2024
Our 2024 Rally was practically a sell-out. 48 players gave the audience a fine mixture of Scottish and Irish tunes and had them clapping and stamping along. The guest artistes, Rose Byers and her band, Spectrum, Erin Watt and Leona Mason sang and played beautifully to the delight of everyone there. The Rally raised a magnificent total of £3340 which has been donated equally to the Food Train and Prostate Buddies. Here's to next year! Onwards and Upwards!
WE ARE FIFTY YEARS OLD!!
12th June 2023
On the 13th of June 1973 a group of Scottish music players met in the Crown Hotel, Langholm and formed The Border Strathspey and Reel Society!

We are fifty years old!

On the 5th of June 2023 we met for our regular, monthly rehearsal at Canonbie Church and we were delighted that two of the founding members joined us for the evening - Charlie Carr and his brother, Nigel Carr! Nigel brought along a copy of his original membership card (still in good condition, pen testing marks notwithstanding...).
Photos are below.
From the current membership, thanks to our founders, with us or departed. We hope in another fifty years' time there will still be a few of the current young ones around to tell future members about our origins!

The Border Strathspey and Reel Society - keeping the traditional music of Scotland alive for fifty years!
